Preflop, with three players remaining and blinds of 1,000,000-2,000,000 and an ante of 250,000, Manuel Ruivo raised to 4,120,000 from the button. Samuel Vousden three-bet to 16,000,000 from the small blind, and Ruivo called. On the flop Vousden moved all-in for 70,309,308, and Ruivo called.

Analysis

In this hand, chip leader Manuel Ruivo flopped a monster in a three-bet pot against fellow top online tournament player Samuel Vousden, who was second in chips with three players remaining. Ruivo opened from the button with 7-6 suited for just over a min-raise. Vousden made a healthy three-bet of around four times the initial raise size with pocket queens from the small blind. Ruivo decided to make the call, putting in around 13 percent of his stack preflop with the positional advantage. The pot grew to 34,750,000 as the flop gave Ruivo the nut straight while also putting out a flush draw. Vousden had been roughly a 4:1 favorite preflop, but now sat with less than a 1-in-20 chance of having the best hand by the river, although he couldn’t know it. Vousden had 70,309,308 remaining in his stack, or roughly twice what was already in the pot. Even if he were to make a continuation bet as small as around a quarter of the size of the pot, he would be left with not much more than one pot-sized bet remaining in his stack on the turn. With this likely in mind, he elected to overbet shove all-in on the flop. Unfortunately for Vousden, Ruivo snap-called with the best possible hand at the moment. Vousden’s odds of winning nearly doubled on the turn when the 10® gave him a gutshot draw to a higher straight, but the K© on the river locked up the pot for Ruivo. Vousden earned €101,620 as the third-place finisher, while Ruivo took more than a 4:1 chip lead into heads-up play with William Kassouf. Kassouf was able to mount a big comeback and went on to win the title and the top prize of €215,163, while Ruivo was awarded €148,042 as the runner-up.

There were some huge WPT World Online Championships (WPTWOC) side events this weekend and they attracted some of the best-known players to the partypoker tables. Samuel Vousden was one such player and he’ll look back on this weekend’s action fondly thanks to padding his bankroll with $158,100.

WPT High Roller: $500K Gtd Final Table Results

Vousden came out on top of a 51-strong field in the $10,300 WPT High Roller on September 19. The Finnish superstars, better known as “€urop€an”, was the last man standing in the event.

Timothy Adams burst the money bubble when he busted in 10th place. Adams’ demise locked up $20,910 for the surviving players, which is the sum Bujtas Laszlo and Michael Addamo got their hands on.

Kahle Burns, who is going great guns in the $25,500 High Roller Championship, fell in seventh-place and David Peters joined him a short while later.

Then came the exit of high stakes specialist Justin Bonomo and WPTWOC Heads-Up champion Steve O’Dwyer, the latter walking away with $46,410.

Heads-up was set with the Swedish world-beater Niklas Astedt ran out of steam in third-place. This added yet another $72,420 to the Swede’s already ridiculous online poker tournament winnings tally that’s in excess of $21 million.

Vousden and Artur Martirosian locked horns for the title, but only one man would emerge victorious. Vousden was that man, scooping the $158,100 top prize, resigning Martirosian to a $109,650 consolation prize.

Benjamin Rolle Wins WPT High Roller: $500K Gtd

The $10,300 High Roller on September 20 attracted 50-entrants and Benjamin Rolle outlasted them all.

Vousden may have won the same event a day earlier, but he busted two places from the money in this tournament. Fedor Holz was the unfortunate soul who burst the money bubble.

Stephen Chidwick and Jake Schindler was the first pair of players to see a return on their $10,300 investment before Justin Bonomo became the first casualty of the final table.

David Peters and Pascal Lefrancois joined the busted players on the sidelines before Juan Pardo crashed out in fourth place. Third place and the last five-figure prize of the tournament went to Canada’s Jeffrey Cormier. His exit left Rob Yong and Rolle to lock horns and butt heads heads-up for the title.

There was o deal struck despite a near $50,000 difference in the payouts. This meant Yong had to make do with a $107,500 runner-up score when he lost to Rolle in the final clash of the event. Rolle walked away as a WPTWOC event winner, an accolade that came with a $155,000 prize.
